Dépli: a textile object of manipulation and assembly. Spontaneous, playful, creative and poetic
Dépli was created in 2020, laureate project of the Vitrine pour un(e) designer competition. In reference to the gesture and to its material, it is a textile object - objeu - of manipulation and assembly, spontaneous, playful, creative and poetic. Kids are invited to join freely, to interlock, to pile up different simple pleated modules. They build imaginary ephemeral volumes, to be made, unmade and remade. They discover geometry, texture, color and transparency.
The toy aims to highlight the Plissé technique, a disappearing savoir-faire. The project is carried out with companies and local resources. The textile used is made in France, light, flexible, breathable, easy to care for, recyclable and durable. Kids workshops took place in different places from the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, such as the Abbaye de Cluny or the Villa Cavrois.
Year: 2021-2022
Location: France
Status: Competition
Award: Vitrine pour un(e) designer, winner
Collaboration: École Pef, Villa Cavrois and Abbaye de Cluny
