Le Vaisseau de Galatée is a textile creation designed for Porpora : Polifemo, an opera scenographed by Roland Fontaine for the Opéra Royal du Château de Versailles.

The two monumental curtains, made from 300 m² of fabric, are set on frames measuring 9x5 meters. They are composed of 20 strips of pleated fabric, assembled to create a layered pattern that evokes both the sails of a ship and the damp walls of a cave.

Patterns and textures of the textile suggest a mineral landscape. The semi-transparent stripes create a play of light that allows the textile work to evolve over the performance. Textiles with pleated vertical stripes become walls of water or rain of light. Their nacreous surface is like the texture of a shell, the geological stratifications of a stony landscape.
